Malheureux, pas de glaçons dans le whisky, juste un peu d'eau, à la même température, et de préférence de la même source que celle qui a servi à la réalisation du whisky (!!)

That was only a joke that LYTH proposed to put the "cracked ice" pen in a glass of whisky, then o1984 replied that you should never put ice in a glass of whisky, but preferably use the same water used to manufacture the whisky.
